Antioch East Hosts Jazz on the Lawn Get Out the Vote!
Conyers, GA - Wednesday, September 2, 2020 - In a year where the entire country wants to ensure that everyone votes in the upcoming 2020 Elections, Antioch East African Methodist Episcopal Church (under the leadership of Pastor John D. Young) is hosting a Jazz on the Lawn Get Out the Vote! on Friday, September 18, 2020, 7:00PM. This event is free and open to the public. All CDC guidelines will be enforced to ensure individuals are kept safe. This effort is sponsored by our Young Adult Ministry in an effort to Register New Voters and ensure optimal participation in this year’s elections.
“In spite of ignorance and hatred targeted at many AME Churches worldwide, it is important that the church pushes forward with its voter education and mobilization campaign,” said Pastor John Young. Additionally, It is our goal to register over 1,000 new voters for the upcoming elections, as it is absolutely urgent as well as necessary that we get people registered and out to the polls.
The AME Bishop of Georgia, Rev. Dr. Reginald T. Jackson, said that “this is no time to be ‘indifferent’ or ‘uninvolved’, we must get out and vote, it is important that we prove that not only does, black lives matter, but that Black people also vote.” Moreover, the AME Church has always stood tall in the movement of social justice, equal rights, voter rights, as well as human rights. We encourage everyone to please get out and vote because your vote can make a tremendous difference.
Established in October 2016, the Antioch East AME Church, Inc. and its partners are excited to be leading the charge in our community to ensure optimal voter participation.
